Troubleshooting Guide

GENERAL SECTION
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Pump will not turn on
(Also check tub series solutions below for this problem)
  1. Circuit breaker to the pump has been tripped.
  2. GFCI has been tripped.
  3. Air switch is disconnected from air switch assembly or from air control box.
  4. A kink in the air swith tubing.
  5. Thermal protector in motor has been tripped.
  1. Check if circuit breaker has been tripped, reset if necessary.
  2. Check GFCI, reset if necessary.
  3. Check air switch tubing at pump and at air switch assembly to make sure it is connected.
  4. Check tubing, remove any kinks.
  5. Allow motor to cool then attempt to start.
Motor is working but is not pumping water.
  1. Pump is not working.
  2. Suction fixture is clogged.
  3. Jet, or jets, are clogged.
  4. Impeller is clogged.
  • 1A - Make sure that water is at least 2 inches over the highest jet.
  • 1B - Check for air leak in the suction line. Tighten union of the suction line at the pump.
  • 1C - Lower pump by spreading apart the legs of the pump stand.
  • 2 - Check suction fixture and remove any debris found.
  • 3 - Check each jet for obstructions, remove if necessary.
  • 4 - Check impeller for debris, remove if necessary
Noisy motor
  1. Pump is not mounted correctly.
  1. Check for loose mounting, shim up pump if necessary.
Air valve not affecting air flow at jets
  1. Blockage of one or more orifices.
  1. Remove jet flange assemblies and using a 1/2 unit nut driver, remove each orifice and check for blockage. Also run the system without the orifices in place to clear any blockage that may be in the system.
Pump unions leaking
  1. Union has been over-tightened and has cracked.
  2. Union is not tightened properly.
  3. O-ring is not seated properly.
  1. Loosen union and inspect for any cracks. Retighten (HAND TIGHTEN ONLY).
  2. Loosen union and retighten (HAND TIGHTEN ONLY).
  3. Loosen union and check O-ring, straighten if necessary.
BUILDER SERIES
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Pump will not turn on
  1. Check if TF1 (air switch box) has not been plugged into outlet.
  2. Air switch is disconnected from air switch assembly or from plug-in box.
  3. A kink in the air swith tubing.
  1. Plug in TF1 box to outlet.
  2. Check air switch tubing at air switch assembly and TF1 control is connected.
  3. Check tubing, remove any kinks.
LUXURY SERIES
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Pump will not turn on
  1. Water is not above water sensor.
  2. Sensor or return wires have come loose.
  1. Make sure water level is 1/2" water above water level sensor.
  2. Check wire to make sure they are tightly connected.
PLATINUM SERIES
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Pump will not turn on
  1. Water is not above water sensor.
  2. No power to control box.
  1. Make sure water level is 1/2" water above water level sensor.
  2. Is halo light on control pad illuminated?. If no, there is no power to the control box. Contact your electrician.
HEATER (Option)
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Heater not working
  1. Heater only works when whirlpool system is running.
  2. Heater must be wired independently.
  • 1A. Turn whirlpool on and let run 5-10 minutes. Water lines exiting heater should be warm to touch.
  • 1B. Heater is designed to maintain water temperature. Heater is not designed to heat cold or warm water.
  • 2. Contact your electrician to install separate circuit.
AIRBATH SYSTEM I OR II
Symptom Possible Causes Recommended Action
Airbath system is not working
  1. GFCI or circuit breaker has tripped.
  2. Airbath system must be wired independantly.
  3. Ribbon cable to control pad may be disconnected or kinked.
  1. Reset GFCI or circuit breaker.
  2. Contact your electrician to install separate circuit.
  3. Check connection and ribbon cable. Replace if necessary.
Not all bubble jets are working
  1. An obstruction is blocking the air bubbles.
  • System I - Clean around caps with a soft toothbrush while turning system on and off. If this does not work, trim caps can be carefully removed. Black area in center can be pushed down gently several times. Turn tub on and off to blow out blockage. If this does not work, Bubble jet assembly can be taken apart to check for larger obstruction.
  • System II - Use paperclip to probe holes to clear obstruction.
